The Challenge
Astro Science team were faced with the challenge of configuring a secure and reliable backup of their S3 data to another AWS account. They needed a solution that would replicate their entire critical data across regions while ensuring strict access control and data security.
The Solution
Avertech Services Pvt Ltd, a trusted AWS Advance consulting partner, proposed an AWS S3 cross-account and cross-region replication solution to meet Astro Science Technologies’ backup requirements. The solution involved the following steps:
- Configuration Assessment : Avertech conducted a thorough assessment of Astro Science Technologies’ existing S3 infrastructure and backup requirements to design a suitable replication strategy.
- Cross-Account Access Setup : Avertech set up cross-account access between Astro Science Technologies’ AWS account (source account) and the designated backup account, enabling secure data replication
- Replication Configuration : Avertech configured S3 cross-region replication, specifying the destination bucket in the backup account as the replication target. This ensured that all objects stored in the source bucket were automatically replicated to the destination bucket in a different region.
- Access Control Implementation : Avertech implemented strict access control policies to restrict access to the destination bucket in the backup account, ensuring that only authorized personnel could access the replicated data.
- Monitoring and Alerting: Avertech set up monitoring and alerting mechanisms to track the replication status and quickly address any issues that might arise during the replication process.
